This mixed media work is one of a series based on the Gemstone Beach, and surrounds in Orepuki, in the far south of New Zealand.

This work is comprised of hand coloured (dyes, shallac), and a screen printed pebble image on individual cut hand cut bird forms on upcycled wood, then hand carved. The wood was a part of my father- in -laws wooden drawers he used to store goods at his music store, 'The Music Man', based in Invercargill from the 1960's. Each stone is coated in a delicious layer of gold leaf, to represent the history of gold prospecters in Orepuki in the 1800's. The bird forms are inspired from a trio of vintage plastic brooches from my collection of beautiful things.

Frame: This work is presented on matt board and framed in a simple white box frame, all ready for hanging.
