This mixed media piece is one of a series based on some of my favoutite birds that live in Southland. The Kererū bird portrait featured amongst colours and textures, inspired from both land and sea. This work is a combination of techniques, including acrylic hand painting, hand stenciling and mono printing. Layers of dyes, including indigo dye, that I made from indigo powder. This creates such a luch layer of colour and texture. This work has been finished with a thick coat of resin to entomb and preserve the work.
This work is presented on quality pine, approx 23 cm diameter and 19mm thick. A single D-Ring is fitted on the back for easy hanging.
